Sue Ashley opened the community shop in October 2004 to raise funding for much needed improvements to our local medical services in the village.

This was driven by personal determination, aided by her medical training as a hospital staff nurse to make available in the village, essential life saving equipment.

By the 19th September 2005 the village medical centre was equipped with a defibrillator and pulse oximeter, followed in February 2006 by a Riester diagnostic station with instruments.

Having achieved the initial targets the fund raising has continued for further projects, the information below shows the shops achievements to date. Sue is now assisted by the help of another volunteer Pat Samuel's which ensures essential holidays do not affect the operation and opening of the shop.

About the Community Shop

Wheelchairs, walking frames and crutches are available for temporary loan from the shop for use by residents or visitors to the village. These are available without charge although donations are welcomed, you will be asked to pay a fully refundable deposit.
